Our place in the Earth's ecosystem<\/h3>\n

The survival of humanity is at stake. But what is to be done when the global system built by man threatens its own survival and the balance of nature? To change this, several scientific disciplines must be mobilised, and urgently. We must act to make a real difference in the midst of an ecological crisis.<\/p>\n

Ferenc Jord\u00e1n, a network research biologist, chooses scientific outreach as the subject of his work, and he is a master at it. He enlightens the reader about what he does not like to hear, while remaining professional and avoiding scientific pomposity. After a realistic assessment of the situation, the bold statements are fully justified: the question is no longer whether the rate of population growth is decreasing, but how to have much less; the economic model of non-growth is necessary and urgent; the anthropocentric domination of nature is our undoing.<\/p>\n

Ferenc Jord\u00e1n is neither concerned with pathetic alarm bells nor with reassuring the reader. He does not exaggerate or relativise the significance of the processes described. He knows no taboos, moral, political or scientific.
